Better Winning Odds with European Roulette

Many players of roulette often play the game without the bother of checking the type of roulette game they play. For those who do not know, there are two basic roulette games that are commonly offered by casinos for their players to play.

The main distinctive feature from both types of roulette is the presence of the number zero from the roulette wheel. The European roulette consists of only one zero while the American version has a single and double zeros on its wheel.

Roulette players play to win from roulette. But being a game of chance there is no way that one can predict their winning chances to hit the winning numbers. But with the European roulette, it can give roulette players an enhanced winning chance owing to the lower house edge to play against from this roulette version as compared to the higher house advantage in American roulette.

It has been estimated that European roulette only has a house advantage of 2.7%. This offers a lower percentage of house edge than the 5.26% in American roulette. The presence of the additional double zeros (00) in the American roulette gives its higher house edge.

There are two main betting layouts from the European roulette. These are the inside and outside bets. The inside bets in European roulette table layout include playing for a single number and a smaller group of numbers (2, 3, 4 or 6 groups of numbers).

The outside layout in European roulette consists of betting for a larger group of numbers (12 or 18 numbers). The player places their bets on the corresponding number or group of numbers they want to bet on. They can play for multiple bets from the roulette betting table.

The winner is determined according to which number the roulette balls lands on from the spinning roulette wheel. There is also corresponding payout for every type of roulette bet. The highest payout won from the European roulette is equivalent to 35:1 which is obtained from betting on a single number on the inside layout.

Majority of the outside layout gives a 1:1 payout and the odds of hitting the winning numbers are high. Playing the European roulette game offers a better winning odd to roulette players because they will only be playing for 37 (1-36, 0) numbers as opposed to the 38 (1-36, 0, 00) numbers to be played for in the American roulette.

For an enhanced winning potential in a game of roulette, gamblers should always play the European roulette version owing to its more promising odds than its American counterpart.
